Knitting for me and my mini in Vancouver, Canada
I started knitting late 2019 (after many years crocheting) and have been knitting steadily since.
I consider myself to be an adventurous intermediate knitter and knit items for myself and my daughter. I hope knitting is something my daughter and I can do together in the future.
Knitting is a hobby which provides me with relief and relaxation, as well as keeps my brain active creatively and analytically. I love learning new techniques and challenging myself and I look forward to sharing everything I learn along the way.
I grew up in the Okanagan Valley and have been a crafty person for as long as I can remember. DIY sometimes came up as a necessity due to our family's low income and my father's determination to be frugal. I always saw it as something fun to do.
Crafting is in my blood. My mother embroiders and crochets and when we were young, made all our Halloween costumes and some of our clothing. My father is a fix-it-yourself type and also frequently used the family sewing machine to make anything from drapes to lunch bags, and even lounge wear (in whatever bargain fabric he could find which meant some strange colours and patterns haha). Both of my parents never used patterns - everything was made-to-measure!
While some of my friends took "spares" and chose to not be at school for certain periods, I enrolled in clothing & textiles throughout high school and learned to sew my own clothes and proudly wore them.
I can't exactly remember when I began to crochet, but it was when I was in college/university. Maybe it was the bad break-up or me avoiding to do another pivot table for lab data (I still can't do one without watching a full tutorial video) - whatever it was, it's been my most successful hobby and I kept it up for years.
Fast forward to 2019, I began what's now my favourite and next most successful hobby: knitting. It all started with the desire to make a sweater and the rest is history (aka all on Instagram).
I'm happily married, a mother to a 3 year old daughter, and the best cat ever.
Thank you for all the support and following along my knitting journey.
